Throwing this junk away January 3, 2009 SL I am so thoroughly disgusted with this piece of junk. The bottom will not stay on. The reviewer who said you just didn't lock it into place must have bionic arms. I stood there grunting and twisting and crying while trying to get this assembled. Yes, I slid the locking ring on and made sure it fits into the grooves. It will do a slight twist and no matter how much bulging biceps and grunting I do, it will not finish twisting and locking. I have never been able to use it, so that is the biggest waste of $150 I've ever spent. I bought it about 6 months ago and just finally pulled it out to use it for the first time, so I can't even return it.
Great so far! December 30, 2008 J. Jackson (Kenner, LA) I just recieved my blender today and immediately put it to use. I like the heavy glass and base. It blended perfectly and the directions were simple and easy to follow. I can see why some have had problems with spills...you must carefully screw the base onto the glass jar. If you cross thread then you run the risk of spills. It was very quiet on the slowest setting, ice blended perfectly as did forzen fruit. I love it so far but of course it is only the first use! Well worth the money.
Overpriced and disappointing December 19, 2008 Chance (Los Angeles, CA United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
An expensive, quality "looking" item makes you think "well this must be worth the price." But I had a similar incident as that of a previous reviewer.
First of all: the first one I bought was broken...in pieces (upon opening it). You think, well that could be shipping. So, I get it replaced. And then, I try to make a sauce inside it and the thing starts leaking from the bottom. then the bottom separates, and wow... this thing SUCKS.
When it comes to online reviewing, it is rare for me to use my time to write a negative review, as I'd rather focus on items i'm happy with. But I've never been so disappointed in a product that, on the surface, looked so strong. And the thing is pricey.
Oh yea, to add insult to injury, my wife and I never got around to returning it, so it just sits there as a testament to our laziness and purchasing misfortune. I've literally used it twice in 3 months.
Best Blender, ignore the negative reviews December 5, 2008 J. Wiegmann I read both the German, US and UK amazon reviews of this blender with the US having the most negative reviews. I have used the blender 2 weeks now and I find it impossible to understand how people managed to blend then take the jug of the blender and the bottom bit falls out with all content!? This is one of the few blenders I have looked at with a good design where this should not happen, I think its impossible.
I also have blended frozen fruit (mind you I do defrost 20 minutes normally), ice and made a soup and my daily banana milkshakes. The blender works great, is easy to clean, quiet and generally is worth every penny.
Oh small tip for those who say "fruit bits do not get blended". The manual says start blending with speed 1 and then work your way up. You can see the vortex works best with speed 1 and 2. Try the blender with water and watch the vortex (quite fun really :) )
Finally, a nice blender with a glass jar that works perfectly! November 29, 2008 C.G. (Baltimore, MD USA) I love this blender. The jar is especially large and it works perfectly. You must start at a low speed and work up to a high speed and it will blend your smoothies to perfection. Thanks to Amazon's amazing service, I received this blended promptly after ordering.
