 Even with gentle use, it didn't last two weeks January 3, 2009

My wife bought this for me for my bday. I was very excited, I made approx. 1 smoothie per day (soft fruits only, no ice) and within 10 days the motor was burned out. The only way I could've been more gentle with this item was to not use it at all, which apparently is what it's intended for. If you want a nice-looking, blender for display only, then this one might be for you. If you want an appliance that you can actually use, you should look elsewhere. I'm going to try an immersion blender for my smoothies.

I got this instead of the magic bullet because it was cheeper. But I don't know if the magic bullet is even better. I barely used it for 2 weeks and it started sounding too loud and wierd. 2 days later the rubber on the inside melted!!! I only used it for making pestos, sauces and smoothies at a total of 8 times!!! I used it for exactly what the commercial showed. It was great for the first 4 or 5 days! It blended fast and I just flipped the cup and served which was very convenient. But I guess It was too good to be true though. I don't even care about getting it replaced because it has stupid engineering on it!! how does a motor this strong connect to a rediculous piece of rubber and expect the rubber to push metal and not melt unless you are only blending liquids?!

I use it for making yogurt/fruit/berry smoothies. I have the 12 piece version and I make two ay a time - drink one, put tthe other in the fridge. No problems. I have another blender I use for heavy duty stuff.

So far so good (great?). Having a hard time trying to figure out why I shouldn't give this product the full 5 stars....blends everything quickly (mostly smoothies in my case) and is a breeze to clean up. I have been able to add a lot more fruit to my diet since I bought this blender because it is so easy to use....with the 4 large dishwasher-safe cups you get with it, clean cups are always ready to go.
Good performance and good value!

Conceptually this is a great product, technically it is not. Had the blender for about 3 months and the motor burned out. If you only use it once in awhile to make an occasional smoothie its probably ok. I use it once or twice daily for a morning protein shake and it clearly isn't designed for frequent use.
