Product Description

Three steps to astonishing meals.

Divided by season, Cooking with Curtis features such traditional ingredients as lamb, chocolate and rhubarb along with scallops, vanilla and even truffles. Professional chef Curtis Stone points out that his dishes are often chosen from a restaurant menu, but are rarely prepared at home. He selects 24 ingredients, then offers three different recipes for each: one for beginner cooks, one for the experienced and the last for the adventurous. This three-step approach ingeniously builds confidence in even the most timid cook. After all, cooking basics can be mastered by anyone -- and this book promises that a complex dish can successfully be prepared by following Chef Stone's expert directions.

Recipes include:

  • Tagliatelle of white truffles from Alba
  • King prawns with caramelized endive
  • Roasted sea scallop wrapped in pancetta with tomato and gremolata
  • Zuppa ribolita (lentil soup with vegetables)
  • Classic apple tarte tatin with vanilla ice cream.

Cooking with Curtis serves up a remarkable repertoire of delightful dishes for cooks of all levels of expertise.

4 out of 5 stars great ideas in here   November 10, 2008
Scott J. Mclaughlin (Temecula, CA)
I bought this book as a gift for my wife, but i have ended up taking some of the ideas out of here to use on my own. Some of the recipes in here, while not difficult or overly-complicated are a little more time consuming than i prefer, but the great thing is they are compartmentalized in the recipe so you dont have to scrap the entire meal just because you dont want to make a certain sauce, etc. We use the Sam the Cooking Guy book almost daily, and this book is a nice one to throw something in from once in a while.

4 out of 5 stars Good Stuff   October 17, 2008
Olivia E. Guerrero
I bought this book because of his show. I was hoping for some fun and interesting recipes, but have to say that even his easy stuff is not necessarily something that my family would eat. I plan to use this book in the future for special occasions when I can splurge on something different and elegant for dinner.

5 out of 5 stars Cooking for Whiners Who Want To Be Winners!   September 7, 2008

Finally there is a cookbook that will turn whiners into winners in the kitchen. Curtis has created the ultimate culinary experience for anyone who has ever whined about not being able to cook. Anyone can do it and Curtis shows you exactly what to do and how to do it. Plus, the pictures in the book of the food and of Curtis are to die for! As an expert Whine Tester and occasionally a Whino, I'm here to tell you to buy this book right now and get started, Believe me, if my husband could do it then you can be a Winner in the kitchen too!.

I was disappointed in the book. I found very few recipes that I would ever try.

5 out of 5 stars Nice Book   May 22, 2008

This was a very nice cookbook overall. The recipes varied from easy to advanced and the photography was beautiful. I bought it as a gift and am thinking of getting it for myself.
