Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Sharp R-820BW offers two ovens in one countertop unit. Use it as a microwave oven for rapid warm-ups. Use it as a conventional oven for roasting and baking. Instead of heating elements, the conventional mode uses heat convection. That means hot air is circulated around the oven chamber for consistent baking and roasting.
Ever make a pizza in the microwave? A microwave heats it up and melts the chasse quickly but leaves a flat consistency to the dough. Changing to the convection mode for the last five minutes (or so) adds crispness to the dough for a more conventional taste and natural crust.
The Sharp R820 is all about convenience and taste. Whether you choose microwave or convection heating, it's a valuable kitchen tool for making great meals in a jiffy, with tastes you appreciate. CompuRoast automatically roasts eye of round, chicken, turkey, pork loin and Cornish hens to perfection Popcorn settings for 4 different types - regular, light regular, snack, light snack And much more

4 out of 5 stars GREAT COMBO OVEN   June 18, 2008
Rich (Florida, USA)
This product replaced TWO others: a microwave only, and a toaster oven. Although this is a convection oven, I don't notice that any foods cook quicker than they did in my old toaster oven or regular oven for that matter. But it does do both microwaving and regular cooking well, and it's sooo convenient to have only ONE thing on my counter instead of TWO!! I do recommend it, and KUDOS to AMAZON once again, I ONLY order online from them, always quick deliveries with NO problems. This is one of MANY items I've purchased from AMAZON including my beautiful new 52" Samsung LCD TV, which I received in perfect condition and saved a bundle of $$$ on! Thanks, AMAZON, you have a REAL and LOYAL FRIEND here!

5 out of 5 stars Excellent microwave and roaster   April 6, 2008
A. Rychel (Seattle, WA United States)
This microwave has many features, some of which I have tested. Mainly we purchased this for basic food reheating, but the roasting function has proven to be quite handy as well. This microwave is not sufficient to make toast, however, it works well to toast things like nuts. What this microwave is really good at is roasting meat (we have tried chicken and turkey) as a substitute for normal oven cooking. I am pretty sure that it is more energy efficient to cook meat this way, it is also substantially faster. And when it comes to cooking dinner, faster is definitely better. Some features which many annoy some: the turntable always spins, and it interior is not very large. These are things that are just fine with me. For anyone who lives in a very small space and does not have a proper oven, this would be a very fine substitute.

4 out of 5 stars Works great   April 1, 2008
Paul Affleck (Atlanta, GA)
This unit takes a little getting used to as it is significantly different than my old unit which was at least 7 years old. Some great features here the defrost is exceptional defrosting without cooking the food. Popcore works fine however as per the instructions you must have an upside down pie plate for it to cook correctly. If you don't it does not pop all the corn. reheating dishes is exceptionally easy and the electronics are pretty intuitive after a short period of use. Overall a great unit for the $.

4 out of 5 stars Sharp oven   February 27, 2008
Douglas Jeffries (Summerdals, AL)
The oven works good except therdoor sticks. sharp said it is due to the oven being mounted over ther stoce. The mfg. installed it and we can not move it. My wife does not use the oven and the stove top at the same time. This is inconventent but it works.

4 out of 5 stars Wonderful, but   February 24, 2008

I love this oven. The only time I use my standard oven is when this is too small. There have been a couple of other microwaves in between, but esentially this replaces an earlier Sharp Microwave Convection. I didn't roast a perfect chicken from the time the first one died (after 10-12 years) and the time I bought this one. One thing I don't see mentioned is that it's good for setting yeast bread to rise. Set the oven on 100 and set a cup of water in with it for extra humidity.

I love all of the things that this does. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because of the two things that my old one did that this (as far I've been able to figure) doesn't. I miss the humidity sensor (so that when my water was boiling the oven stopped) and the thermometer. That one wasn't so much for meat, since the oven does well at cooking meat to the desired doneness if you give it the correct weight (if you stuff your chicken, make sure you include that weight to get the stuffing to a safe temperature). I used the thermometer to get soup to my favorite temperature, to heat things to lukewarm or to scald milk. I miss those very much, but this is still the oven I would buy. I'd pay, if I could, another $100 for those two features, but this was a great buy for the price.
