These powerful 8-inch kitchen shears cut food, flowers, paper, cardboard, even carpet. They're balanced in the hand and work equally well for right-handers and left-handers. Blades formed from high-carbon stainless steel curve inward so they meet in only one place at any given position and cutting action is smooth and exact. One blade's serrations prevent slippage. A plastic cap on the screw securing the blades can be lifted so the shears can be taken apart for resharpening. Steel-tooth insets in the rugged synthetic handles twist open bottle and jar caps. The shears are dishwasher-safe, but hand washing better protects the blade edges. --Fred Brack

I have arthritis in my hands and cutting through chickens bones was completely impossible for me. Tried soooo many kitchen shears supposedly designed to do this daunting job. Perhaps so, but those others required hand strength which those of us with arthritis simply do not possess. Then I got this. WOW! It's such a snap to cut through chicken bones!
The fact they come apart easily for thorough cleaning is a major plus. (You want to get anything that comes in contact with chicken really, really clean to avoid contamination with deadly salmonella).
And they have stayed sharp for us for many moons now, without sharpening.
Buy this! Even if you aren't incapacitated. You will not regret it!

Until I got my Wusthof Kitchen Shears I didn't realize just how many times I would be using them. They have quickly become indispensable. One of my favorite things about them is the easy way they come apart when you want to wash them, but don't accidentally come apart while in use. If this pair wears out or more likely is stolen by one of my sisters, I will definitely buy again.

I read a lot of reviews before I purchased these shears. The thing that was mentioned over and over again was how easy they came apart for cleaning. What they didn't say is the the shear come apart constantly when you're using them. For example: I was cutting an uncooked chicken apart and the shears opened (fell apart) 7 times. It was very aggravating. The plus size of the shears is that they ARE very sharp and should be easy to keep sharpened. I've opted to buy a different brand and style.

These are the best shears I have ever used. They cut through pretty much everything and stay sharp long. Great feature is the separating of the two parts for cleaning.
