Amazon.com Review
The Insignia collection from Chicago Cutlery includes this pair of heavy-duty kitchen scissors. Like the knives in the collection, the scissors feature high-carbon stainless-steel blades that have been honed with the company's exclusive Taper Grind technology for optimum sharpness. Whether cutting through chicken wings or snipping articles out of the paper, the scissors will retain their sharpness and can be resharpened when necessary.

Symmetrical handles mean this pair of scissors can be used by left- or right-handed users, and the nonporous polymer coating adds comfort. Steel extensions on the end of the scissor handles function as a bottle opener and flathead screwdriver, while steel ridges between the two sides of the handles can be used to grip recalcitrant jar or bottle lids, or even to crack nuts in the shell. Dishwasher-safe, this true multipurpose tool makes a great gift. --Ann Bieri

1 out of 5 stars Cheap plastic   August 22, 2008

Mine broke after 2 years of regular use. The plastic part of the handles were the part that broke so I can't salvage them. They might be inexpensive, but I have seen many other kitchen shears last much longer than just 2 years.

5 out of 5 stars Great Value for the price   August 12, 2008

I have forgotten how useful a pair of kitchen scissors can be when it's sharp. I have used it to debone, open packages, cut cords, and everything you can think of in the kitchen. The shears so far have not disappoint me. It has cut down my prep time for meals tremendously. Cleaning up is so easy, especially when you can take it apart.

5 out of 5 stars Most used item in my kitchen!   August 10, 2008

I LOVE these scissors and use them daily! I like that they come apart for washing. Mine are just like new after 5 years.

5 out of 5 stars Good scissors   July 21, 2008

I bought these to replace the scissors in our knife block that I have no idea where the other pair went. They cut great, I use them a lot making salsa having to cut up cilantro and green onions straight into the pan. It's also nice they come apart, to throw in the dishwasher. They've been washed many times, and still perform great.

2 out of 5 stars Disappointing   July 18, 2008

I was looking for a good, solid pair of scissors for use in the kitchen. These are awkward, especially with the bottle opener and screwdriver tips poking out of the handles. They interfere with comfortable, ordinary cutting. Also, the blades do come apart for cleaning, but too easily. If you open the scissors in the wrong way, they fall apart in your hands. I don't recommend these.
