Can't live without a 'Hot Shot'. August 20, 2008 HoraceHorse (Texas USA) There is only one and it is perfect.
Instead of boiling a whole kettle of water the Hot Shot does only a cup, so whether its a quick cup of hot tea, or a bowl of noodles, this does the job and saves time and money.
Great idea, like the light switch it is a must have for any home.
Love It! July 31, 2008 Snicker55 (Missouri USA) I truly love this little appliance. We had gotten one at an estate sale many, many years ago, used it countless times, and finally just wore it out. I was so happy to find this replacement online and my whole family has been happy with its performance. It heats up water in just a few seconds, much faster than a microwave, and is very simple to use.
my parents have used one daily for 20 years June 22, 2008 N. Ferguson (Ohio) My parents have used one of these since the 1980s. I think they have replaced it twice. They would not be without one!
I feel a little uncomfortable about keeping the heating element constantly plugged in. But this is a very useful and handy item!
Excellent Product! March 24, 2008 H. M. Sopp (Glassport, PA United States) I purchased this for my Grandma. She has Maculuar Degeneration and is technically legally blind. She loves having her tea though and is very independent! That's why this is perfect! She knows where the buttons are and with her pre-measured cup we never have to worry about her burning herself. Great product! Also, I purchased one for my classroom at school. It is prefect for when I want a cup of tea during the day. It comes in handy when I need hot water for something in my classroom too! FYI - A friend found out that you NEVER put milk in here!! It scorches and burns the inside! Smells bad too!! Other than that...AWESOME!
It does what it claims, but... March 22, 2008 J. Deck (Campbell, Ca. United States) I purchased one of these in black for use in my shop and one in white as a gift for my mom.
The one that I am using daily has a small defect that may prove to be a quirk of the one I received or a broader defect that you may encounter.
The dispensing valve allows a small amount of water to leak out of the tank. The base of the unit then simply allows the water to run off and onto whatever it is sitting on. I solved this by simply laying a rag over the bottom. The water evaporates from the rag faster than the leak.
The only other issue is that the bottom is not open like it's predecessor. This does not allow for the filling of taller mugs or some soup bowl prepared foods.
All and all, it functions the way in need and is priced reasonable for what you get.
