Gets Really Hot! July 9, 2008 Shadow Shopper (Maryland) I bought this to replace my beloved Phillips electric kettle that was simply wearing out and taking forever to heat. Granted, I had an incredible bias towards the Phillips and would have replaced it exactly if possible...Given that, the Krups does the job one purchases it to do. Caveats are that the stainless exterior gets extremely hot, so I would not want this near kids; it also has a lid that must be removed to fill the kettle, rather than one that can be lifted with one finger; Krups should work on that. It is a very attractive appliance.
This item rusts! July 6, 2008 Tracy J. Fesler (California) This is great item, sure the outer shell gets hot, just don't touch it. My item still works great and I love it, but it has developed some rust on the sides of the spout where it meets the kettle.
I will not purchase a stainless steel kettle again, no matter what brand.
great product May 27, 2008 Johnson First, it isn't as green as it looks. Second, it works great and does exactly what it is supposed to do. My wife used to boil her water for her tea in the microwave but knowing how inneficient that is I bought this for her. She loves it as it boils water very quickly and shuts itself off when reaching the boiling point. So if she is in a different part of the house she doesn't have to worry about the water.
Two years and going strong - buying another April 21, 2008 Russell Christopher (Charlotte, NC USA) My wife and I bought our first electric kettle (this one) shortly after discovering such a thing existed (OK, we're slow learners) during a trip overseas.
We have used this kettle at least twice daily since then, and it is still going strong. I'm online to buy a second for a vacation place right now, and see that I could have saved myself $10 if I bought it online rather than in a store - such is life.
Anyway, I love this thing. As expected, it heats water quickly - duh. I guess it is a comment on consumer goods in general when I say "I am pleased" that in our two years of ownership I have had no problems with it - no leaks, no problems with the bast power element, zippo. It just does what it is supposed to when I ask it to.
Without being rude, I'm not sure whether some of the negative reviews on this unit have been written by actual owners: I see several people criticizing its features, design, and potential for problems, but the same people don't clearly state if they actually own one and if they have HAD a problem. No worries one way or the other, but from personal experience, this was a good buy, and I'm about to put my money where my mouth is and do it again.
Doesn't Last April 19, 2008 Anne (Bellingham) The tea pot was great. That is while it lasted. I bought the Krups stainless steel pot because I wanted a good quality product that would last for years. It lasted one year, that is all. The switch in the pot is bad. A friend bought one at the same time, her kettle is the black style, after a year it is starting to leak. A disposable item. For a year they are great but then they die.
