surprised at the ratings November 16, 2008 R.A. (Destin, FL United States) I have been looking and looking for this item and finally came online and found it. I have two and I LOVE THEM. It provides my CD's with an incredibly safe shell. I'm always moving things around and if you fell on this case, you could not hurt your CD's. It is really slim (half the size of my thumb), so you can store a lot of CD's in a small space. The latch is tricky, but once you learn where to push, it's all good. I've had mine for years and the interior is in perfect shape. I'm buying five more because I like them so much better than the big, bulky soft wallet I have now---I mean, if I dropped something on it, everything would crack. You could drop this case out your window or drive over it with your car and I think the Cd's would be fine. And the case only weighs a pound or so. I'm really surprised other people don't like it.
Well-made & Attractive Case Overall April 7, 2008 Casey Crede (Colorado) I now own three of these cases. I use two to store DVDs at home out of reach of the kids and one to store CDs in the car. The cases seem to resist dropping well. The locking latches stay closed and protect my discs. The discs do not get scratched when they are bumped against the rims upon removal of discs from the case. I find this to be a great improvement over the zippered cases and some other brands of hard-sided latching cases. I have had no problem using my passenger-side hand to grab and unlock the case while driving. The two in-house cases have suffered no separation of the metal over-case from the plastic case underneath. However, my car case has had two bouts of metal coming loose from plastic around the edges, and I have re-glued it twice in a year around the edges. This did not cause much bother. Overall, I am very satisfied with the cases. I will probably buy more to store my DVD collection in as it grows. The case would benefit from a small, collapsible lunch-box-style handle. The larger case made by Atlantic has a handle, but is seems to only be available in one colour, dark blue.
Excellent storage September 21, 2007 AshokLA (Los Angeles, CA United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Unlike the other reviewers, I have had a very positive experience with this product. The outside case looks good and is strong, the pages have stayed intact and are easy to manage. It might be because I primarily use this case to store my CDs at home (much easier to store than all those jewel boxes)and only infrequently take it on the road. So far I have bought four of these (I find it easier to have many small ones than one large container) and love them.
Good idea, poor execution... February 18, 2007 J. Rowe (Coral Springs, FL United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased this product because I wanted a slimish case with a hard shell to protect my important discs. Similar to the experience of the second reviewer, "J.Alberty", my case arrived with one side of the thin metallic veneer separated from the plastic shell and the other side partially so. A quick inspection of the inside revealed that the metallic veneer is only held to the plastic shell by double back tape. Instead of going through the hassle of returning this product I think I'll simply reattach the metallic veneer with a better quality adhesive since it seems likely that a replacement product will have the same shortcoming. This should be a wake up call to the manufacturer to use a better adhesive for the metallic veneer and step up on the QA. I'd be embarrassed to let my product out of the door like this when the fix would be so simple to do.
Car wreak waiting to happen January 9, 2007 Gregory Jon Alexander (Texas) 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
The idea is good and the looked is great. However the latching mech is extremely hard to open with two hands let alone one. I can't imagine getting a CD out of this thing while driving.
