To Your Health! August 3, 2008 Mizz A. (Florida, United States) Became interested in purchasing a juicer after seeing the Jack LaLanne infomercial about juicing; however, after doing some research, I found that his juicer got several discouraging reviews. The Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Pro got more favorable reviews, so that is what I ordered.
I've had the juicer almost 2 months now, with no complaints. We use it 2-4 times a week. I do have to cut some things in half first like larger apples, greenpeppers and pears, but this is not an issue. It handles everything I put into it just fine.
The juicer comes with a handy brush for cleaning and also states in the instructions to use a plastic bag in the pulp container for less clean up--what a great idea! I don't have any complaints about clean up, either. Yes, it is best to at least rinse everything right away to avoid caked on muck, but I put my glass of juice in the fridge for the few minutes I clean up so that the juice is nice and cold when I'm finished. I would also highly recommend using the wire mesh sink strainers you can get at your local home improvement store to capture the pulp you rinse off of the components. We have a septic system, and the mesh really prevents a ton of food from washing down the drain and into the septic tank.
I've never been a big fruit & vegetable eater, but with the Big Mouth Pro, I'm getting a lot more of both into my diet--even beets!
All in all, a great product. Give it a try.
More than what you expect for the price August 1, 2008 Rama Krishna Audi Reddy (GA, USA) This product has exceeded my expectations by far. You see all other juicers are priced at 200 and up and this one comes for less than 100 bucks and you expect you might have to compromise on some features...but I was wrong...this just works the way it is promised.
Great value for your money!
Great juicer, great price July 27, 2008 S. Murphy (San Diego, CA) This is my first juicer. I shopped around and based my purchase on the great reviews I saw on this juicer. It just goes to show that you don't have to pay $150 to get a quality juicer. This one does the job very well. It's really powerful and so far I've juiced apples, celery, oranges, pears, carrots, romaine lettuce, lemons, and watermelon. You should not juice soft fruits like strawberries and bananas or you will WASTE the fruit. It's best to juice other harder items first and then blend the soft fruit into your juice. I juice at least 3 times a day and it's doing great. I also love that it's not white. White or other lighter color juices will stain easily with green and orange veggies and fruits. Cleaning is a pain, but that's going to happen with any juicer you purchase. You should rinse parts off promptly (especially the basket) so that it will last longer.
The worst juicer ever! July 25, 2008 M. Smith (Boston) This juicer is a nightmare. I was so excited to use this as my last juicer died a few months ago. This juicer has a small vent towards the back of the discharge hood. That little vent sprayed carrot pulp all over my brand new kitchen. I shouldn't have to put a piece of tape on a brand new product. The pulp was also pretty wet, which means it's wasting lots of yummy juice!
When I was packing it up to return it a little spring came flying out from one of the side arms...what a piece of garbage. Just another lesson for me on why not to cheap out. I will be buying a champion juicer instead.
Good instruction book, good motor July 24, 2008 K. Watson (austin, TX) I actually read the instructions and it helped a lot. They offer recipes and tips on how to keep this juicer clean. This is my first juicer and I'm loving it. It's loud, but that just reinforces the fact that this motor is strong. My only complaint is that pineaples are too expensive :)
