KA-BOOOOOOM! January 7, 2009 Dr. Herschel Knapp (Los Angeles, CA) I purchased this item along with the KitchenAid dough hooks. The third time I used it, I was making bread and the mixer BLEW-UP. The motor stopped, smoke and sparks shot out of the front vents and it stunk up the kitchen. The vendor courtesy accepted the mixer back for a full refund. Next time, I'll specify that I want the NON-EXPLODING version.
KHM7T 7 Speed Power Plus Hand Mixer December 24, 2008 S. Ball (Syracuse, NY) I purchased this mixer because I was tired of my old mixer smelling hot any time I had thick dough or had to mix for long periods. When I recently used this mixer to do a double batch of chocolate chip cookies - even this one started smelling a bit hot. Aside from that, I like several features on this mixer. I like that speed "1" is slow enough to not make flour fly all over the kitchen. I also really like that there is not a center rod on the beaters themselves. I think it mixes better because dough does not get stuck there. Overall I like this mixer and hope that the hot smell was just a rare thing.
#1 kitchen blender September 26, 2008 J. Abercrombi (Kobenhavn) I got this to mix/whip cream, egg whites, pancake batter, cake mix, pancake mix and cookie batter and it does the job for everything very well. It's also rather quiet, it's not one those blenders that just makes a lot of noise without doing much work. This 7-speed blender also comes with 2 bread hooks and 1 mixing tool (that can be used for light sauces or salad dressings) besides the 2 standard blender beaters. This includes an auto-eject button and all parts can go in the dishwasher. I got mine from Williams-Sonoma and have since seen it priced for much less. (Sometimes I really think that Williams-Sonoma egregiously marks up their prices for no other reason than to claim a bigger fiscal earning.) Anyway, you can certainly find cheaper blenders, but you won't find one that will be as sturdy, powerful or as quick and easy as a KitchenAid.
KitchenAid Hand Mixer August 30, 2008 Richard D. Wilson (Baton Rouge, LA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I got this for my wife's Red KitchenAid appliance decorated kitchen. It has been one of the most used products she has. I often hear her make comments whenever she's using it as to how well it performs compared to other mixers that she has had in the past. This mixer certainly made a lasting impression.
Should have listened to the other reviewers. August 25, 2008 Big Bob (San Francisco, CA United States) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was in the middle of doing a wedding cake, 3 batches of buttercream and more to go and the gears start to grind. Had to go back to using my Kitchen Aid Stand mixer and a $10.00 toast master I'd used for 6 years. I do like the design and the digital read out of the speeds, as well as the sensitivity of the speed increments. Quality control awful.
