Mixer January 7, 2009 Bruce M. Roberts (Millville, NJ) Speechless--Ordered on Sat. regular ground delivery, received by following Tues. Very Nice Mixer- Strong, Relatively quiet for a heavy duty mixer--surprised. Packaged very well-- price for this I believe was very fair.
Awsome Buy yourself one! January 5, 2009 TwilightStar I bought one of these before Christmas. I got the black (Licorice) one. I was saving for a Kitchen Aid but got scared off with all of the Kitchen Aid problems. Hamilton Beach is awsome! It's super. I love it. I've been cooking up a storm, cakes, cookies and dinner rolls. Oh my gosh, the best homemade dinner rolls! Husband thinks I'm an all star. Queen of homemakers : ) Next I am going to do bread. The mixer has a 3 year warranty. In the box was a booklet with recipies and instructions. They say if there is any problem the mixer goes back and they will send a new one.
I'm very happy. Get one. You'll be glad. Some people fuss about having to scrape around the bowl with a spachula. I did that with mashed potatoes and when I made the rolls. It's no big deal. Just a couple of little swipes and you are good to go. I did that for years with my 1964 Sunbeam Mixmaster Mixer.
I loved the Mixmaster but it was getting old and tired. The Hamilton Beach is a very very worthy successor.
Stand Mixer Heaven December 27, 2008 Snow White (sunny southwest) HubbyDearest gave me this for Christmas, after we shopped various brands. This is rated a Consumer Report best buy. Attractively engineered, heavy, sturdy, and well-built, I expect it to serve me well for a long time. I especially am impressed that they have the confidence to put a THREE YEARS WARRANTY on this product. I 'test drove' it and it seems to be working just fine. Once I have put it to actual use, I will add further comments to this review.
Good Machine December 25, 2008 A. Tegtmeier Pros: - Very sturdy general construction - Nice finish, easy to clean - Strong motor - Fits on the counter under our cupboards - All metal, no plastic - Fair price - not very loud in slow speed settings - Handles cookie dough, bread dough, minced meat - we used it extensively to do our christmas baking and it worked superbly with any dough; we only use the first two speed settings, that is completely sufficient for our needs (the thing has 12 speed settings ...)
Cons: - at high speed settings (>4) it moves quite a bit - the motor-body connection is somewhat loose and the motor shakes rather noticeable, even in the slow speed settings; don't know whether this might be a normal thing (to decouple the movement of the motor from the base), but I am afraid that the connection might brake eventually; - made in China ... well, they can produce quality there as well ... - only 110V - we would like to take this machine back with us to Germany in a few years, but there we have 230V ...
Summary: My wife loves this machine, and so far, after three weeks or so of heavy christmas bakery, it still works perfectly. The doughs you will get with it are absolutely fabulous and if it doesn't brake, we will use it for a long time ... until we move back to Germany in a couple of years or so.
mixer December 20, 2008 Carol Lohmann (Kansas) Wished I had bought this years ago if I could have. It has a grand place on my counter where everyone sees it when they walk in. Works like a charm. The price is great esp. compared to the others like it.
