This is a most powerful and awesome mixer. I LOVE it. There is nothing it won't mix to the max. Safe for young cooks too. I will never use another mixer.

Shield just sits on bowl. It doesn't snap on it just floats. I also bought the lids and they do the same thing. They have so many bowls that they make it universal so it fits nothing!!!!!! Called KitchenAid and they said thats the way they fit and we had the right one. I will never buy anything else KitchenAid.

This was a refurbished mixer. At first I was hesitant to purchase but my fears were unfounded. It arrived it great condition, performs every task (bread, cakes, cookies, doughs, etc.) that I have required. In wanting to find a shield to go with this mixer, I called Kitchenaide directly and they were helpful, informative and pleasant. When mentioning this was a refurbished item, they invited me to call anytime with questions- -great customer service. The price was less for this mixer than any local store for a mixer of less HP!!!

The shield is flimsy. Doesn't stay on well. Awkward to use. Doesn't save much on clean up time or the mess.
