Lodge Logic Sportsman's Charcoal Grill July 20, 2008 James V. Bocquin (Millbrook, AL USA) Excellent product, outstanding price...exactly what I was looking for. Free shipping was icing on the cake!
The special flavor of the Habachi is a special treat! July 18, 2008 Edward Goldberg I have had a very large BBQ now for many years. It was time to go small. I did not want to loose the flavor of the BBQ. This little gem does it all.
All of the parts are very well done. The griddle that you can get with this BBQ is also a great buy. With the two you have a nice outdoor kitchen.
Pancakes on the BBQ? Yes! Remember to use good Coal, never the "Match Lite" stuff.
My Second One... July 16, 2008 J. J. Lilley (Sussex, VA USA) I "inherited" my grandfather's Sportsman, one that was at least 35 years old. this grill lived downstairs at his beach cottage and also had a fry pan (#3052D) that sat where the grill fit. It flourished through countless barbecues and fish fries, salt air and hurricanes (always under the stilted house; for it never came indoors.) I acquired it in 1985 and used it 20 more years before it finally cooked its last steak and just fell apart. I have just bought a new one and have sentimentally replaced the handle with the old one. Maybe it will share its experiences with this new Sportsman of family gatherings of days long ago. I have yet to fry with 3052D, but I am sure the memories will waft back as surely as the smell of fresh frying fish. I am sure that this Sportsman will share a fate similar to its predecessor. This is truly a grill that will last a lifetime.
P.S. This Sportsman is starting its own tradition... I use it in the fireplace with excellent results.
Best small BBQ July 12, 2008 P. Farias (chicago) This is the best BBQ for 2 people. We wanted something small and were looking to hibachi's on a lot of different web sites. They all looked cheaply made. Then I found the Lodge Web site. This was the BBQ I wanted!! But the price was a bit steep. Then I found it on Amazon for the price I could afford. Great buy, great BBQ!!!
Quality product made in the USA but onlly good for direct heat cooking July 2, 2008 Priscilla K. Kruse (St. Petersburg, Florida United States) This is a great Amweican Co. with a quality product but with a number of short comings ie: Very heavy, although sild as portable.
Being cast iron, it holds it heat for a long time and if you are carring it somewhere you have to wait until it cools down.
Only really one level of cooking
Another popular catalogue shows a hibatchi with two grills that can be adjusted--very practical--I didn,t buy it because it was made in China.
