Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com Review
This superior-grade plastic bagging material is designed for use with all Deni Freshlock vacuum sealing systems and helps preserve refrigerated or frozen food for twice as long as the standard plastic storage containers. The box comes with three replacement rolls, each measuring 11 inches by 33 feet, that can each be cut to make about 66 six-inch bags. The high-density polyethelyne bags are durable enough to reduce the rate of spoilage, eliminate food odors, and protect frozen foods from getting freezer burn. However, these bags are also safe for boil-in-a-bag cooking or microwaving leftovers. --Cristina Vaamonde

    4 out of 5 stars It's NOT a "Food Saver." But it's a great little tool.   July 24, 2008

Yes, these are cheap bags. That's a good thing. You can boil them, you can microwave them and you can store things in them, for about the same price as brand-name zipper bags. But you need the Deni Freshlock Vac Sealer -1331 or similar thing to make them work.

They are indeed open on three sides. As the Deni seals lightning-quick, it's no slower than the single seal you have to make with higher end roll bags, and there's a reason for it. You pull out just a bit of bag and make a seal. Then you start pulling out more, measuring against the item you want to bag. You unfold the plastic, place the item on a clean, foodsafe surface, and make another seal and cut. Now you have a pouch and your food is in the pouch, struggle and hassle free.

With some sorts of immersion cooking, you do not actually WANT a sealed bag. If so, you are done.

Then you make one or more seals as closely as possible to the food to minimize air retention while vacuuming. It's very quick, and definitely good enough to protect food from freezer burn for several weeks. Not for several months or years, but several weeks.

It's just fine for protecting dry items for long-term storage, as long as the bag itself can be protected.

1 out of 5 stars Difficult opening   June 21, 2008

The Deni replacement rolls are VERY difficult to open. I spent the better part of an hour trying to open them. I finally ended up using saran wrap. Something should be done about this!

5 out of 5 stars A must for a Deni vacuum sealer   March 28, 2008

I use my Deni vacuum sealer all the time, and just ordered more of these "bags-on-a-roll". As far as I'm concerned, they work great, and I like my Deni sealer. Maybe one day I'll upgrade to a better model (I've got the low-end), but it's been working fine for me for a couple of years now.

5 out of 5 stars use as directed people!   January 16, 2008

These bags are meant for Deni vacuum sealers, not foodsaver. If you have a Deni and these are the bags that came with it they will work fine.

1 out of 5 stars POOR QUALITY   April 11, 2007

THE BAGS ARE POOR QUALITY. WHEN RETURNED FOR CREDIT THE REFUND WAS ABOUT 1/2 OF WHAT I PAID FOR THE BAGS. IF I KNEW HOW MUCH REFUND I WOULD HAVE GOTTEN I WOULD HAVE DISCARDED THEM IN THE TRASH AND SAFE THE HASSLE OF RETURNING THEM.
