Simple! Does not work...Do not try to replace, the vaccum system is worthless.
A good quality food storage tool. February 20, 2006 K. Hanna (Woodbridge, VA United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My husband bought this for me for Christmas and we have already used all of the bags that came with it! It has done a good job of sealing bulk purchased meats as well as vegetables, and I have successfully been able to cook foods in the bags. Because I've only had it for a month and a half I can't test the longevity of the seals, but the foods we've thawed in the brief time we've had the machine has been in great condition. In addition, the Seal-A-Meal has sealed commercial bags, such as chip bags and cereal bags. My only complaints are the lack of control over the suction and the cost of replacement bags. We attempted to seal several waffles and because it "sucks" so hard, it ended up crushing the waffles. And because we use it so often, we go through bags with some frequency, and the refill cost is a little steeper than I'd hoped, but even the cost of bags is better than replacing foods that have been freezer-burned from being improperly stored in zipper-style bags.
I would give it ZERO stars if I could August 2, 2005 M. Adelman (Kensington, Maryland) 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
Do not buy this! After a week, I have sent this to the landfill and purchased a Foodsaver. I even bought a second one and took it back, thinking that there was no way this product could be brought to market and function the way it did. It produces no suction. I doubted my sanity 1,000 times, tried and re-tried to get bags to seal. Only when I brought home the FoodSaver did I realize that the problem is the machine. The FoodSaver works just like the informercial and seals the bag in less than 10 seconds. I wish I had not compulsively sent the box to the gargabe, as I would have loved to get my $99 back instead of just junking this thing. Even a cheap FoodSaver would HAVE to be better than this. I am not sure that the battery ever worked correctly, either. It says that it should last for 25 seals---I don't think it lasted for 2.
