Awesome! December 16, 2008 A. Tyre (NYC) I have used foodsavers for years...I'm not quite sure what the other reviewer is talking about, but I love this. This was a replacement for an older one that finally died. I use it often, and have never experienced any issues with it creating a vaccuum seal even one time. I love this and it's advanced features.
It just didn't work. August 20, 2008 Jamey Matheny 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have used a Food Saver for many years. I wore my last one out. I had high expectations with the V2240 because of its improved features. But, the bottom line is that it only sealed the 1st time about 20% of the time. I use Food Saver bags, I know what it takes to make a seal, but it simply would not pull a vacuum in the bag. I would try over and over again and on the 3rd or 4th try it would sorta or kind of start of suck the bag down. This was a new unit and the bags were good and not folded or any of the common problems that cause failure. It just would not work. It was not very forgiving when I tried to portion up a bulk buy. This is a common use of a Food Saver and you simply can not do one bag after another without waiting for it to cool down between seals. I don't know if I got a lemon or this is just how the new models work (or don't work). Update 9/1/2008 Amazon was good about accepting the return and crediting my account quickly. I did buy a V2440 Food Saver. This issues I had with the V2240 went away. The V2440 works very well and I recommend it. Initially I did not want a model that had the roll storage with the cutter in it because those models take up a bit more counter space. The V2240 does not have this roll storage. The V2440 does. And after having it I have learned to like the convenience of this feature and I was wrong to not want it to start with. I have used the V2440 for many bags and I use it daily for canisters. Do over? Yep, I would buy a V2440 again.
