Very Good Home Use Sealer October 25, 2008 Alexander Brenner (Huntington Station, NY United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this sealer to vacuum seal my dehydrated beef and chicken. This item does work well and does a good job. I only gave it 4 stars because it is a little loud. Not so loud that it would be disturbing, but loud enough to drain out the sound of watching TV at the same time. I wish I could have seen a video with the sound before I purchased it. I still would have bought it, but I would have expected the loudness. This is still a Very Good Vacuum Sealing Machine, I use it every week!
Buy a Foodsaver instead. October 19, 2008 GTinsdale (New York) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The product works OK when it wants to work, which is about 25% of the time. It will not seal frozen items and is temperamental when it comes to sealing everything else. But the clincher is Seal-A-Meal's customer service: it is absolutely abysmal. Slow to respond with canned responses that NEVER answer your specific question(s). To get a sense of the differences between Seal-A-Meal and Foodsaver, check out their respective websites. You won't have any doubt which product to buy -- a Foodsaver.
Are Seal A Meal & Food Saver Bags interchangeable? August 22, 2008 M. Cole (Ohio & Kentucky) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Can the Food Saver bags be used with the Seal A Meal sealer? I have the Seal A Meal, but I have found some Food Saver bags on sale cheaper.
I have had no problmes with my Seal A Meal, has worked great I got it last week and have used it everyday. Only wish I had it sooner when I put my garden veggies in the freezer.
It's Defective June 27, 2008 D. Dana (Salem, OR) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
My Son bought me this Seal-A-Meal for Christmas last year. With the price of meat going up, I decided to give it a try this week. Worked fine the first few times, then died an untimely death leaving me with 5 pounds of hamburger in 1 pound packs needing to be sealed. Let it sit thinking it maybe needed a break, but no, it just doesn't work any more. I loved it while it worked, it was great. Don't love it now, and wouldn't buy another as it's not dependable. Contacted Rival Customer Service, but they only quoted the trouble shooting page of the appliance hand book, so no help from them. Wish I could report differently, but I've not had a good experience with this product.
Unsatisfactory May 26, 2008 Kavik 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought a Rival Seal-a-Meal because it was cheaper than the Food Saver Appliance but it did not work well. I had to use a lot of pressure to hold it close and it did always vacuum and seal the bag. I ended up returning it and got a Food Saver Appliance.
