Product Description Fuzzy rice? No, fuzzy logic! Micro computerized technology, along with a spherical pan and heating system, ensure your rice is cooked to perfection each and every time. If you're not ready to dine when the rice is done, keep it warm, or reheat it right in the machine. No more soaking a saucepan full of gluey rice, this pan is non-stick for quick and easy clean up.
Amazon.com Review This rice cooker cooks up to 10 cups (enough to feed a 10 to 20 people or more) of a variety of rices--white, sweet, porridge, and mixed--for accompanying stir-fries, stuffing peppers, or rolling sushi. The LCD screen is easy to read and the push-button controls are simple to program once you've mastered them. After loading your rice and water into the inner pan and choosing the type of rice you are making from the menu, the microcomputerized "Fuzzy logic" temperature control system calculates the exact cooking time (usually between 45 and 70 minutes) and programs it for you. The Fuzzy microchip combined with the unit's spherical heating system, which cooks on all sides of the inner pan, ensure perfect rice every time without burning or overcooking. You can also set the timer manually in 30-minute increments for cooking times of up to 13 hours. When cooking is complete, the cooker beeps eight times and automatically shifts into a Keep Warm mode, which keeps rice warm for up to 12 hours after cooking is complete. An Extended Keep Warm function warms rice for up to 8 hours at a lower temperature and reduces the chance of rice drying out or becoming discolored or odorous. If rice is still not eaten by then, there is another opportunity to give it a warmup of between 5 and 15 minutes using the Reheat key. The inner pan has a nonstick coating for easy cleaning and the lid's stainless-steel underside also wipes clean much effort. The rice cooker has a plastic handle for transporting it from cabinet to counter and a retractable cord for easy storage. This appliance comes with a spatula and spatula holder and is covered by a limited 1-year warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde

Great rice cooker. No regrets! October 28, 2008 KS We have owned this rice cooker for over 5 years. We love it. The fuzzy logic functions well. We use it to cook plain white rice, congee/rice porridge, and varieties of rice with meat and vegetables. It always turns out well. No regrets.
Worth It! January 7, 2008 Kimmy (Midwest) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
The NS-MYC18 Zojirushi model is a great, easy-to-use rice cooker that is definitely worth the investment.
Do not buy this unit, poor design and very unsanitary... November 14, 2007 T. Chan (CA, USA) 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
This is not a cheap rice cooker but the design is very poor, must be from a very early model. The inside of the upper lid cannot be removed to clean thoroughly. It can easily trap steam, rice and/or food particles, harbor germs and causing health issue.
I don't care if it can cook perfect rice but I personally think this model should be discontinued just for sanitary reason alone. Purchase other models that are a little more expensive where the inner lid can be removed for cleaning. I do not recommend this rice cooker for anyone.
Excellent appliance! you NEED this March 11, 2007 D. Smith 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
Even if you don't think you need it, get it. It will change your life.
First, 10 cups do not refer to 10 amercian cups, they are 10 Japanese cups, so this is really only 7.5 American cups.
Second, no matter how much rice you think you can eat, you will eat more once you have this machine. This size rice cooker is not too big for you. I make enough to eat at dinner and then leftovers for either rice pudding, rice salad, or fried rice.
This makes perfect rice every time. Even the brown rice is tasty and has an appealing texture.
If you can't cook, you will really appreciate this machine. If you can cook, you will still appreciate it. No more wondering what side dish you will make with dinner. You can cook the rice earlier in the day and it will hold it at the ideal temperature.
This is extremely easy to use and has very consistent results. I cannot imagine needing the more expensive model as I cannot envision tastier rice.
One caveat-- I recommend getting The Ultimate Rice Cooker Cookbook by Beth Hensperger when you get your machine. She will tell you how to cook all sorts of grains in there and provides tasty recipes so you can make the most of your new appliance. The manual that comes with the Zojirushi is leaves a little to be desired.
Highly recommended.
Life saver for a working mom February 8, 2007 Ynwlin 2 out of 23 found this review helpful
I bought this item based on my friend's recommendation. It is not as big as I imagined (the 10 cup specification really sounds a lot but turns out to be OK for a 3-member family). Rice comes out more tasty than before, but the best thing about this rice cooker is the timer and keeping-warm features. Now whenever how late we arrive home, rice is ready!
I wish I had invested on that earlier!
