3 out of 5 stars Good, then die.   July 6, 2008
J. Duberville (Dallas)
This rice cooker worked good, then die on me. Why? The last batch come out, lights out. I take apart, nothing seems broken. I find another one in used store, exact same. I buy for ten dollars, feel lucky. Take home. Also dead. Planned obsolescence! I take out inside pot and use like plain pot. Cooks rice better! The inside top also comes off.

Please write here why it dies.

1 out of 5 stars I lost faith in Oster brand   September 30, 2007
Harishankar Nair (Fremont, USA)
I bought two of these one after the other when the first one stopped working. Am sorry to say this but the rice cookers don't work and have lost all my trust on OSTER to a good job with any of their products.

4 out of 5 stars Years of use and still running...   June 30, 2007
Katrina (Northern VA)
My husband bought this rice cooker a little over 3 years ago, and ours is still working fine. We use it honestly at least 2 times a week to cook white jasmine rice. We've attempted brown rice, but it didn't turn out so well, so we just stick to the stove top for brown rice. But I think we got a fantastic product for the money we've paid for it. I think the steamer that comes with it is a little small or my intentions, but other than that, this rice cooker gets my seal of approval.

Others have commented on burnt rice. That has never happened to us in all of the times we've used it (which is tons). We have gotten a little browning on the rice on the bottom, but nothing to get upset over.

1 out of 5 stars Broke within a week (twice!)   June 12, 2007

I bought the stainless steel model (it's the same rice cooker, just in a different shell). I cooked rice in it once, and it burnt the rice (in fairness, it was a tiny amount of brown rice, and I meant to try a larger amount, later).

I mainly used it for steaming. After about uses, the lights stopped working. I called them, it was under warranty, and they shipped me a new one for free. Again, it broke within about 5 uses. When I plug it in, neither light comes on. When I press the button, no lights. There's also no heat. There must be a design defect; I have a feeling it's related to heat and the computer chip in it.

1 out of 5 stars Burns it every time.   February 21, 2007
Amy (Kennesaw, GA USA)
This cooker always leaves a burned layer of rice, every time. I think it's junk. We waited to see if it would improve but it has consistently done it for months.
