Amazon.com Review Stretching beyond a typical rice cooker, this Panasonic kitchen appliance provides the necessary pieces enabling it to double as a steamer. Boasting an 8-cup capacity, the cooker measures 9-3/4 by 11 by 10-3/4 inches and includes a steamer rack with accompanying steamer cap. The appliance offers two settings--the first for cooking and the second for warming--and uses up to 630-watts of power. A hinged, plastic lid seals tightly, locks into place, and houses the removable steamer cap. To open, simply press the large raised button located on the lid's handle. Inside the chamber, a nonstick bowl insert features handy measurement markings and easily removes to simplify cleaning. Colored with a subtle grey-and-white-striped pattern, the exterior features smooth surfaces that stay cool and wipe clean with a damp cloth. Accessories include: 180 ml measuring cup, rice scoop, scoop holder, steamer rack. This product comes with a comprehensive operating guide, recipe book, and 6-month warranty. -- Amy Arnold What's in the Box Rice cooker and steamer; 180 ml measuring cup; rice scoop; scoop holder; steaming rack; recipe book

Cooks rice fast at the expense of rice quality August 3, 2006 A. Tsai 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
On the upside, this rice cooker is the fastest one I've ever used. The rice is done in ~20 minutes. This is opposed to ~40 minutes for other rice cookers. The downside is that to achieve that speed, the rice cooker gets the pot way too hot. This leads to a layer of rice on the bottom that is dried out. You can fix this problem (to some degree) by immediately unpluging the rice cooker once the button pops up, stirring the rice, adding a little bit of water, and letting it steam in the residual heat.
Some other points of interest:
1. This is cooker is bascially the same size as the 10 cup rice cookers. They just reduced the height. I wanted an actual smaller rice cooker (circumference wise) so cooking small amounts of rice turns out better.
2. Contrary to previous reviews, there is a rice spatula holder!
3. The retractable cord is a nice touch for people who use the cooker infrequently, but useless for people like me who use it everyday.
4. The parts are rather cheaply made. In particular, the spatula and the steam trap are made from rather flimsy plastic.
5. For the price, it is okay. I've brought cheaper and nicer rice cookers from B&M stores (costco).
Works well July 29, 2006 D. Peterson (Mpls, MN United States) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Works as advertised. I do unplug when the unit goes into warming mode (as recommended by a couple of reviewers), and haven't had any problems with burning or drying out.
works good but its not made in japan May 10, 2006 J. Breese (arizona) 6 out of 8 found this review helpful
rice cooker works good considering it's price it's bulky as one reviewer mention, but heck it's 8 cups capacity i rate it as 4 star since its misleading where it was made from it's MADE IN THAILAND not japan.
WORKS WELL January 29, 2006 K. Lam 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
The rice cooker works well wnd the steamer tray is very helpful. There are several things that might make this product better. For example, they can include the spoon rest for the spoon they included and also they can make the steam rack fit a little higher in the cooker so that you can cook rice and steam at the same time. Also the design is not the best looking and it's a little too bulky.
Great Rice cooker, fast September 24, 2005 H. Luk (Ann Arbor, MI) 16 out of 24 found this review helpful
It is a nice cooker with retractable cord. Comes with a nice design that you only need to wipe out the inside top lid, washing a steam exhauster. comes with a rice mug and a steamer stand.
