Finally a good toaster December 28, 2008 R. P. Reynolds (Greensboro, NC) A surprising product, it is actually better than it has to be. Sturdy construction, smooth operation, the heat controller actually works as it should, and it toasts evenly and relatively fast. A little more expensive, and well worth it, for when you get tired of replacing cheap and nasty Wall Mart junk.
Not free shipping December 8, 2008 J. W. Bolton (Minneapolis, MN United States) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
This isn't a comment on the toaster itself, but about shipping. While the toaster is sold by Amazon and the listing indicates free shipping, when you check out a shipping charge is added. I called amazon customer service and was told this item doesn't qualify for free shipping. Add between $8 and $15 to the cost. FYI.
Three years later and still going strong December 4, 2008 Ray Brooks (Sacramento, CA) Seems like such a simple appliance. Just heat up and brown the bread. You can buy one for less than $10 at the drug store. Newlyweds end up with dozens of them. We've tossed out several of them. Finally decided to bite the bullet and purchase a "good" toaster. Regular Dualit toasters looked nice, but couldn't stomach the cost. This one looked good too, and was much less expensive. Bought one. We've had it for three years now and it works like a charm. Sturdy appliance that does what it is supposed to. The bagel setting is nice if you don't like buns toasted on both sides. The lift works well too. Very satisfied. Would buy another but don't expect that we'll need to for a very very long time...
Excellent toaster September 2, 2008 S.B.O.N. (Lexington, KY USA) This toaster works very well. It toasts very evenly if you toast 2 slices of bread. The instructions inform you that if you toast one slice of bread, the side facing the empty slot will be darker, since heat transfers from the empty slot. This is definitely true. The lift lever is a nice feature. If it is difficult to remove whatever you are toasting, you just lift up on the lever and it elevates the item for you to remove. The crumb tray is easy to empty without making a mess. The toaster is solid and very good quality. It also looks nice and goes well in a kitchen with black appliances.
A fine toaster for the long term April 27, 2008 J. M. Surrell (Washington, DC United States)
I am very pleased with the simple design of this toaster. I have made the mistake of purchasing toasters with too many bells and whistles. I too expect to have this toaster for many years to come.
