4 out of 5 stars Krups ss toaster   November 16, 2008

This toaster works well. It was a replacement for an older white Krups toaster that I had for about ten years. The removable crumb tray is always a plus, makes it so easy to clean. It toasts well and is a more compact overall size. Don't like the bagel setting. Can't figure out why you want to toast just one side. Does not allow the very large width sizes of bread, thickness is not a problem. I like the exterior finish, the stainless steel has a slightly darker patina than some other models.

4 out of 5 stars It's a good toaster.   October 24, 2008

I think for under $40 that this is a great toaster. It doesn't fit wider slices of bread, you have to feed them in longways. The best feature is the "stop" button on the front, which ejects bread mid-toast.

1 out of 5 stars Slider difficult to use   June 29, 2008

Initially, the "slider" that pushes the toast down was getting stuck in the down position - so the toast never popped up! I had to violently shake it up and down many times to "loosen" it up before it started working correctly.

1 out of 5 stars toaster went kaput after one month!   May 19, 2008

The toaster looks nice and worked well...for one month! Now its totally dead and I will have to drive it to a Krups service center to have it repaired. Who has time for that?

1 out of 5 stars A hassle to use   May 6, 2008

If you want a toaster that requires a two step toasting process, this is the one for you. I find it very annoying when I take a piece of standard size bread out of the freezer and stick it in the toaster I have a 50/50 chance that it will fit. I end up having to toast each end of the bread vertically. This results is a piece of bread toasted evenly on the ends and darker/burnt in the middle. Another problem is that when you press down on the lever on the side that drops the bread and engages the toasting process, you literally have to slam it down. Maybe this is some type of new safety feature, but all my other toasters never seemed to have this issue. I'm going back to the cheaper Oster toaster I originally had. It may not have the greatest reviews, but I know it doesn't have the issues I have listed above
