| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com Review A thick, fluffy, 7-1/4-inch-diameter Belgian waffle is already divided into four sections and ready to be shared when it comes out of this handsome waffle maker. That's because the grids' dividers are high enough to separate the sections. The grids are nonstick, meaning they readily release the four-piece waffle and easily wipe clean. A ready light shines when the waffle maker is properly heated to accept the batter and shines again when the waffle is cooked. With its chrome housing and stay-cool black synthetic handles, this 650-watt appliance looks great on the counter. Afterward, the cord wraps around the hinge, plus you can stand the waffle maker upright for compact storage. It measures 8 inches wide, 3-1/2 inches high, and 11-1/2 inches deep and carries a one-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

lasts a few years or so January 5, 2009 Courtney, mom to 2 (eglin afb, fl) We got this for our wedding (2003) and it has lasted us until this past fall (2008). thats when the hinge broke and the cover on the light broke. over the years it started to not cook the waffle as done when the light would go off so to counteract that i would just leave it in a minute longer after the light went out. my suggestion for the ones who's hinge broke- be more careful when closing and opening it. it should not make any sounds when you do it, that way you know you were careful. thats how i always treated mine and it lasted 5 years. and for a plastic hinge i think that is pretty good. also when putting the batter in, less is best. i think we put in 1/3 of a cup. then it didn't over flow, and no outside mess to clean up.
Worse than useless hinge pins; 2 waffles until breakage August 31, 2008 Joseph Sirico (Old Saybrook CT) The hinge pins broke on the second waffle. They sell no parts. Cannot find a way to fix it. I figure that makes it about $15 per waffle until it is unsafe and a burn/electrical hazard. I should have avoided this but did not research first. Not many of us research a $30 item. DO NOT BUY unless you have money you do not want.
Okay Waffle maker July 26, 2008 Kimberly L. Chambers (Bloomington, IL) I recieved this waffle maker as a wedding present. I used it 2-3 times and it worked fine...after that, the waffles always stuck to both sides of the iron. I had to scrap the waffle off with a spatula. Doesn't work very well.
HORRIBLE!!! DO NOT BUY!!!! July 12, 2008 Sharon L. Chilson This is the worst waffle maker I have ever owned!! I purchased it on 5/13/08, paid $33.00 for it, and have been trying to make it work ever since. I just thought maybe it needed a break-in period, but I now know it is just a piece of junk. As per instructions, I am not to use spray oils, only liquid. OK, definitely inconvenient, but I did, and continue to do, as instructed. And the waffles stuck, and continue to stick, every single time unless we cook them so long they are nothing but a crunchy, broken, mess, and it is impossible to clean. I have tried different recipes and different cook times, all with the same result. This is just too much work for a waffle. I do not know what Black & Decker used for a surface, but it is horrible. I am frustrated every time I use it, and I can't believe with today's technology they choose to make such an inferior product. There was a day when the Black & Decker name meant quality, but no longer. I absolutely detest spending money on a product that is bad, and I feel completely cheated by them for putting it out on the market. Plus, I am now angry over a stupid waffle maker. I did not even want to give it one star.
Dead after 6 uses January 13, 2008 B. Lynch (Santa Rosa, CA USA) Owned this poor quality waffle maker for a year. Used it 6 times. It burnt out this morning. Dead, Nada, Zippo!
Avoid like the plague!
