This model of the Metrokane Mighty OJ Juicer features an all polished-chrome finished metal construction. Use this juicer and save electricity and produce sweeter juice. Powerful rack-and-pinion gear system leverages up to 800 pounds of pressure! Lifetime warranty on all moving parts. Metrokane is widely recognized as the foremost supplier of mechanical citrus juicers. In fact our compact model, the Mighty OJ Juicer, is the largest selling hand-operated juicer in the world. Whether you select the Mighty OJ or one of our larger models depends on how much juice you will be squeezing, the amount of space in your kitchen and, of course, how much you want to spend. * Stainless steel cone and funnel. * Size: 6 x 7.5 inches high, 4.5-lbs.
Amazon.com Review Start your morning off right with a glass of fresh-squeezed orange juice. It's got more vitamin C than processed juice, and it just tastes better. The Mighty OJ citrus juicer in retro 1950s chrome puts 800 pounds of pressure to use making sweeter juice than electric juicers. Put your glass under the juicer, place half an orange on the raised cone, hold the juicer foot for leverage, and press the handle down. Just remember that it takes quite a few oranges to get a substantial amount of juice, so buy a bag. You can also use it to squeeze lemons, limes, and grapefruit. To clean the cone and funnel parts, lift them out of the juicer and rinse under the faucet. Lifetime warranty on moving parts. --Doree Armstrong

works for lemons March 5, 2008 GK lover We received this as a gift just when our old electric one had bitten the dust. I was excited to have a durable product. But within a week my husband insisted that we replace this with another electric citrus juicer (we make oj every morning). Here are my pros and cons: Pro: Squeezes lemons just fine and requires less cleaning for a little bit of lemon juice than the electric one. Cons: Doesn't get out all the juice--we had to use 1.5 times the number of oranges as with the electric citrus juicer. Big oranges or grapefruits don't fit. Requires a lot of force--my hand and shoulder were extremely sore after I used this the first time. Not very stable, you have to be careful not to let it fall over.
We kept it for the occasional lemon squeezing, since the store it is from is an hour and a half from us. But we bought an electric citrus juicer.
Not The One March 3, 2008 Steve (texas) No matter how hard you press, it is impossible to get all the juice out of your citrus. Early on I learned to accept the face that even small limes and lemons would have moisture left in the rind. Even with mild to light usage, the juicer broke two of its tines after just two years - making the whole thing useless.
Not a good buy December 15, 2007 J. W. Fairlie This is really a quite awful and useless product. I used a restaurant-grade juicer for many years, and when it died, I went looking for another. I made the mistake of buying this product.
It does not do a good job. I had been spoiled by the old juicer, just cut in half, place on the juicer and pull the handle (maybe push a second time). And done. With this product, you do that, and you have to repeat, over and over and over, and still you have not extracted the juice. There is no leverage, no clearance, not enough height between the top (the operative part) and the fruit. It is not hard to clean, just clunky and noisy and I know I am cleaning something that was just totally useless.
I find myself squeezing juice by hand, every morning, rather than approach this thing. The reason: I get a lot more juice by hand than by using this critter. My dislike for this product borders on personal. :)
Does anyone know where I might find an old restaurant/bar-type juice squeezer?
It works for me! December 7, 2007 Jesse R. Litten (So Cal desert) Great little kitchen item! Squeezes juice out of big lemons quickly and easily. A fast clean up in warm soapy water for vital parts easily removed/replaced.
This juicer stinks !!! October 8, 2007 Martin Potter This thing does not extract nearly enough juice. It also cuts a hole in the rind and makes a big mess. It is unstable on the counter when you're pressing and topples over. Don't buy it !!
