Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
How to know when the cake is done? There's the broom bristle method (yuck), the finger tap method (unreliable), and the toothpick method (only works with shallow cakes). If you love to bake make sure you get the best results for your efforts and use a real, genuine cake tester.

3 out of 5 stars Ok, but thin   November 23, 2008
K. White (Allen, TX United States)
I have only used this cake tester once so far, and I overcooked my cake, but it wasn't actually the testers fault because I didn't test it until it was already overcooked. My concern with the product is that the metal tester is very thin, kind of like a thick needle, and I don't know if it's thick enough to grab the cake batter and pull it out to let you know the cake is undercooked...I guess it could be designed so thin for people that don't want a visible hole poked in the top of their cake. On the upside the grip part is nice and big and easy to hold on to.

4 out of 5 stars who would have thought   September 30, 2008
Not A Picky Person (Los Angeles, CA)
I was always looking for a toothpick long enough for my cakes. I could buy martini toothpicks but then I would have to store them and they are a one use item (not green at all). I keep this with the baking supplies and it is always there. For the price, I am glad I did it.

I haven't used this product yet, however it looks well made and seems like it would be a great gift for someone who enjoys baking. -- quick delivery and as expected!

5 out of 5 stars must have and great filler!   August 19, 2008
Hedda Gabler (Bay Area, CA United States)
not only is this item a great filler item for your cart, it is a must have for your kitchen. no more digging around in the utensils drawer for anything sharp to test your cookies, just look for this. i always throw it into my cart as a filler and give them away as gifts. i've had it for months and the thing has yet to rust or even bend out of shape. highly recommended.

5 out of 5 stars Oxo Good Grips Cake Tester   August 7, 2008
Mindy Jacobson Levy (Philadelphia, PA)
I've been using wooden toothpicks "forever" in order to test my baked goods. I decided to give this a try and I'm glad I did. It's a winner, and is particularly helpful for those baked goods that are in deeper dishes, as the Oxo is about 4" long -- that's 2" longer than a toothpick! Well worth the money.
