This is one well-designed set of canisters, and we expect nothing less from Calphalon of course. The tempered glass covers create an airtight seal to keep contents fresh, and the oval shape facilitates scooping. Finally they just look so darn chic, in brushed stainless steel.

Providing countertop convenience with a little style, this six piece canister set from Calphalon keeps baking ingredients, pasta, or coffee easily within reach. Three brushed-steel canisters with accompanying lids vary in height and capacity to offer a range of options for varying storage needs. Standing 9-1/2 inches in height, the largest of the trio comfortably holds 3 quarts. Moving down the line, a 2-1/2-quart canister measures 8-1/2 inches in height and is followed by a 2-quart canister topping off at 7-1/2 inches. Each footprint measures 6-3/4 by 5-1/4 inches creating an oval shape to facilitate scooping. Domed lids feature shatter-resistant glass for easy viewing and an airtight silicone seal to preserve freshness. They are smaller than I thought they would be, but they're very nice! I'm satisfied with my purchase and would definately buy them again. As for spillage when opening, my boyfriend says he has issues opening them. I do not. Must be the difference between the excessive force of a man and the delicate touch of a woman! :)

I like the canisters, I just wish the lids would stay sealed. It's almost as if the gasket is too big for the can, the lid just keeps popping back up (no matter how many times you try to get it to stay down) so you never really get an airtight seal on it. Also, you cannot fit a full bag of flour/sugar in the large canister. Last, as with all things stainless, there are endless fingerprints to deal with. I'm happy I have them, but I wouldn't buy them again.

The canisters are perfect. I have a small new kitchen and didn't want my counters cluttered. They are sealed tightly, and it is so easy to scoop the flour/sugar out w/ a cup without making a mess, due to the oval shape. I knew they would not fit an entire bag of flour/sugar, I just store the remainder in plastic sealed containers in my cabinet. They also look fantastic with my new stainless steel appliances. I have had many compliments on them as I show off my new kitchen.

I read all the previous reviews and decided this was the set for me. The brushed stainless looks great with my appliances and dark countertops. The lids have a nice tight seal. You have to use care when opening them, but I've never had any 'accidents' as one reviewer reported. The oval shape is especially nice as it gives you more options when placing them on the counter.
